LASH LIFT + TINT FAQS

WHAT IS A LIFT?

Don’t want or a can’t have eyelash extensions but would like the look of having longer and curlier lashes?  An instant lash lift may be for you!  At Marvelyes we use The Lash Shop Instant Lash Lift and tint system that takes approximately 30-45 minutes to give you semi-permanent lash curls similar to the effect of a lash curler—but with actual long lasting effects up to 6-8 weeks.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Lash lifts last until the lash falls out with its natural growth cycle—this is about 6-8 weeks. You may find your lashes looking like they have fallen sooner thanks to new growth. Although you may be tempted to go back to get your eyelashes re-lifted each month, we recommends waiting minimum 2 months— so as not to damage your lashes.

WHO IS IT MOST SUITABLE FOR?

1. Have naturally long lashes
2. Cannot get eyelash extensions due to allergies to lash extension adhesives
3. Have straight/flat lashes 

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?

For the most part, this is a pretty easy treatment to maintain. You'll need to keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours, but after that, you're free to live your life!

Additional tips to make them last even longer:

• Be gentle with your lashes, no rubbing

• Avoid waterproof mascara

• Do not use harsh product on your eyes/lashes

HOW DO I NEED TO PREP FOR THE TREATMENT?

To get a lash lift, lashes will need to be clean and in their natural colour. We recommend waiting two months between lash lifts if you would like  to begin getting them regularly.

PLEASE ARRIVE TO YOUR APPOINTMENT COMPLETELY FREE OF EYE MAKE UP!  Also, you must stop usage of waterproof mascara at least 2 days prior to your Lift! If you wear contacts, they must be removed.

With lash lifts we only work with your natural lashes. A lash lift can offer the illusion of length by semi-permanently curling up the natural lashes and with the addition of a tint it can offer a more dramatic and thicker result!

WHY CAN’T I WEAR WATERPROOF MASCARA?

Harsh chemicals are used in waterproof formulas in order to make them, well.... waterproof. This chemical composition is extremely drying to your lashes. Not to mention all the effort and extra tugging and pulling on the lashes to remove the mascara. To be honest, most people are not great at thoroughly removing the mascara. If that’s the case, now you’re running around with this super drying film of chemicals on your lashes 24 hours a day. This results in weakened lashes that are prone to breakage, and over shedding.

WILL THIS DAMAGE MY EYELASHES?

No, if you follow all the advice on Pre prep and Post care. The lifting solutions are only applied to the new growth area of the lashes, down towards the base and up a bit. Never to the ends of the lashes.

I USE LATISSE®/EYENVY. CAN I GET THIS TREATMENT?

Yes. Some of the most dramatic results I've achieved have been from those using Latisse® / Eyenvy because their lashes are already so long.

I'VE RECENTLY HAD BLEPHAROPLASTY SURGERY, CAN I HAVE THIS PROCEDURE?

You need to wait at least 1 year from your surgery. It has been my experience with clients who have had this surgery that there is an increased sensitivity in the eye area for quite a while. You need to give yourself that time to heal first. After that, you can consult with your physician to be sure.

I'VE RECENTLY HAD LASIK SURGERY, CAN I HAVE THIS PROCEDURE?

Yes, but you need to wait at least 6 months. As always, when in doubt, please consult with your physician.

WHO IS THIS PROCEDURE NOT GOOD FOR?

Chronic dry eye, conjunctivitis, damaged lashes or lashes with gaps (this treatment may make the gaps more noticeable), active eye infections of any kind, trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of lashes), recent chemo treatments (you will need to wait at least a year from your last treatment. When in doubt, always consult with your physician.)

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE FOR LASH TINT?

DAY 1:

•  Do not touch or rub your eyes immediately after the treatment

• If redness or irritation occurs apply a cool damp cotton compress to the eye area. If symptoms persist for more than 24 hours seek medical advice

• For the first two hours please avoid any water contact on the lashes 

• Do not sleep on your face.

DAY 2:

• Avoid hot water or steam on the face or near the eyes.

DAY 3 & onwards :

• Please refrain from all attempts to rub the eyes or lashes.

• Do not use oil based products or any conditioning treatments/ serums on the lashes.

• This will cause the Semi-permanent mascara to dissolve faster.

• Effects of the tint will start to diminish within 2 to 3 weeks as hair grows out and the tint colour fades.

• Strong sunlight/UV light can make the tint colour fade faster– Use gentle facial cleanser or eye makeup remover and avoid exfoliating cleansers or those products containing AHA’s and oil

• Do not apply makeup or mascara to lashes or receive any other eye treatments for at least 24 hours after the lash or brow tinting treatment.
